At the time of this review I have been wearing these boots almost every day for a little over three weeks. After making sure they fit correctly by wearing them around the house for a day, I conditioned them with an application of Huberd's Shoe Oil and let them sit overnight. During the next few days, as the boots broke in, I could feel a sort of hot-spot on the inside of my left ankle where the brass harness ring was pressing against it. It became fairly sore, but not so sore that I couldn't wear the boots. By day 7 or 8, the boots had broken in sufficiently that the harness ring no longer pressed into my ankle, and the boots have become my regular, all-day, everyday wear for most days (the exception being when I go to the farm and wear my steel-toed work boots). The boots look and feel well-constructed, and I'm seeing no loose stitching. One thing I had not anticipated: These boots are not lined, and so the rough side of the leather has a tendency to grip my knee-length socks and work them downward, so that every so often I have to hoist my pant legs up and pull up my socks. I figure that, over time, that rough leather will wear smooth and my socks will stay in place.
